Another watercolor commission for a friend. Digital sketch on the left. Pencil on the right. Haven’t got the watercolor on there yet, but will soon. Still not sure about the cloud placement yet either. Enjoy.
Preview of the sketches in the next ‘Ben Draws’ video. I’ll go into more detail explaining the actual creature in the video, so stay tuned for that. You can get a headstart on voting for your favorite, if you like.
do you still take requests for drawings? if so, I think: 1. a phoenix or firebird of some sorts, and 2. the concept of- dying to the old and living for the new self would be cool. Not sure how, haha, but it’d be cool. (:
Well, I haven’t really taken any particular requests in a while, but, I also haven’t drawn a phoenix in a long time, so I figured I’d give it a shot. No clue what #2 means, at all.
But, here’s the work-in-progress shot of the phoenix. Feeling like the composition needs a bit more to it though. We’ll see. Probably going to be a few days before I finish it. Got a few other things I’m working on for folks.
This is the drawing that I was working on for the video. And this is where I stopped in the drawing before rage-quitting because of the video corrupting.
Definitely going to finish it eventually. (This time I mean it, I realize I say this about a lot of stuff I start.) Lots of coloring yet to do.
And this is the progress of the comic that is frustrating me. One of these days I’m going to totally get the hang of comics and laugh at how frustrated I was.
So, I decided, I really need to work on environment stuff a bit more. And I have all of these images in my head from this story that I have yet to write and illustrate, despite having been working on it in my head for about four years now. So, I figured, might as well try to work out the landscapes/cityscapes while also practicing a bit.
It’s Tuesday again, and I’m busy working on a drawing for a contest. It’s of The Nether. Sorry there’s been so many Minecraft drawings lately, for those of you who don’t know it or just aren’t fond of it. It’s addicting. So, here’s a work-in-progress shot of the drawing.
But if you folks would be so kind as to recommend me for the Illustrators directory, it would make my day or week even!
Another work-in-progress greeting card I’m working on. Halloween card!
Pretty straight forward. Lighter orange is the sketch, darker orange is the final linework. Though, I’m thinking of using some of the lighter orange in the final image, because I like how parts look.
Another work-in-progress shot of the sea-life battle. I realize this is taking way longer to finish than it should, but I’ve been super distracted by getting things ready for my trip to Chicago.
Going to Lollapalooza/Chicago for the week, so I won’t be updating for a little over a week. We didn’t end up winning the contest (though, thank you everyone that voted) but we found a way to make the trip work anyway. It’ll be nice to have a vacation.
Another update, I recently purchased a printer, so once it’s delivered, I’m hoping to be able to do some prints on various papers and start selling those, so if anyone is interested in a print of anything I’ve drawn, let me know, and I’ll let you know about sizes and costs (once I calculate them).
